Hue Specialty Coffee – A Luoi Arabica is a product line found only at Greenfields Coffee.

From the coffee cherry to the green bean to a fragrant cup, it is a process of meticulous care. In the first years, besides bringing Hue Specialty Coffee – coffee by the people of Hue – closer to customers, our top goal remains supporting farmers to stay with coffee for the long term.

Many customers wonder: why is A Luoi coffee priced higher than other coffees???

• Coffee is hand-picked at ripeness

In the past, people usually harvested coffee by shaking the trees hard so the cherries fell, or by stripping them off by hand, without distinguishing ripe from green and mixing cherries with twigs and leaves. This lowered the quality of the coffee, and thus the price.

Now, only cherries that are just ripe are picked. Farmers must pick carefully, harvesting ripe cherries one by one in rounds until the end of the season. Under the alternating sun and rain of the year’s final months, high in the mountains, this work is truly hard.

• Coffee processing

To preserve the best quality and flavor, after picking, the cherries are fermented for at least 8 hours, pulped, washed clean and then dried on raised beds.

After many steps from processing to sun-drying and hulling the parchment, the coffee is hand-sorted to remove defective beans before roasting.

A Luoi coffee is not yet an exceptionally great coffee today, but it is the result of the work of many people, from the farmers to the Greenfields Coffee company. We have a long-term plan to rebuild the reputation of this fine coffee in Hue together with the farmers.
